Hi guys! My fellow Misfits and I are so excited about our new site, YA Misfits, and we hope you are too! Not only does it look pretty awesome, if may say so ourselves, but we have some fab content planned and lots of fun events and contests in the works. So, yeah, you’re probably gonna wanna check us out pretty frequently

If you’re here, it probably means you’ve noticed today’s excitement, which is that all eleven other Misfits and I are giving away some awesome stuff on our blogs to celebrate our debut. And it is in the spirit of our debut that I give away my two favorite debuts, CRACKED UP TO BE by Courtney Summers and HOLD STILL by Nina LaCoeur.
For a chance to win, just comment with your favorite debut of any kind, be it your favorite debut book, the first manuscript you queried, your favorite TV season premiere… go nuts! Only one entry per person, please! And if you already have one or both of the titles, not to worry – we can discuss replacements if and when you win. As long as your replace it with another debut, of course!
The giveaway will be open until this Friday, September 7, at 3 PM EST. Make sure you get your comments in by then for a chance to win! And, of course, make sure your comment contains some way to get in touch with you, be it e-mail address or Twitter handle!
Best debut I’ve read this year? The Book Thief by Markus Zusak. Think it’s a debut anyway.
@sopha400
Oh crumbs, didn’t realise it posted new comments at the top of the page instead of the bottom. Discount one of my entries. Though it’s a toss-up which of the books I prefer, loved both of them.
Divergent by Veronica Roth is the best debut I’ve read this year.
@sopha400
Favorite debut book: INCARNATE by Jodi Meadows.
Favorite pilot episode: Supernatural, hands down.
Favorite debut that I read this year was Daemon by Daniel Suarez. Not YA and not Shakespeare, but an entertaining read by the pool.
Mine is probably Divergent but man was that hard to choose!

Debut? Of all time? Fight Club by Chuck Palahniuk. Still read it once a year.
also, @the_j_hewitt on twitter.
Most favorite debut ever: THE NEAR WITCH by Victoria Schwab. <3

I'm very exited to follow the YA Misfits adventures in publishing.
My all time favorite debut of anything is Jeff Buckley’s ‘Grace’ album. I’ve never quite heard anything like it, even to this day. The writing is sharp, and always felt like it was on a whole other level. Here was a man that understood relationships and emotion better than anybody, but yet his humanity always got in the way. That was what the album was about, humanity at it’s most fragile…at the end of a relationship. Best debut music album in history.
Favorite debut book: Ready Player One by Ernest Cline. Awesome read!
Hmm I can’t think of just one favorite debut, but I really loved Liesl & Po by Lauren Oliver (MG debut) and Born Wicked by Jessica Spotswood : )

Avorite debut, definitely Divergent! Hopefully my manuscript will be someone’s favorite debut someday, though!
Fave debut: The Sky is Everywhere by Jandy Nelson
(Also, I LOVE your name… it is beautiful–and a name of one of my characters, as well! Go Dahlias!)
Congrats, Dahlia!
The launch of YA Misfits has been such a fun day! And it’s clear already that the YA Misfits is going to be the most awesome YA writing blog around.
It’s so hard to pick just one favorite debut.
I’ll go with:
Hate List by Jennifer Brown
But, also mention (because I can’t just leave it at one):
The Summer I Turned Pretty by Jenny Han (YA debut)
The DUFF by Kody Keplinger
I look forward to reading the weekday posts by all the YA Misfits!

Hm, I think my favorite debut was the first season of Warehouse 13! It was like The Librarian all over again
Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi — one of my favorite books of all time!
@thewordtamer
My favorite debut book would have to be Harry Potter. (:
Thanks for the great giveaway!

My favorite debut… my husband’s video game! Bioshock came out in 07 and won game of the year. We got to go to the Video Game Awards in Vegas and everything!

Even though it’s not one of my favorite books of his, one of my favorite debuts is Peter Camenzind, published by my next-favorite writer Hermann Hesse in 1904. It contains so many of the themes present in his other books, like friendship, feeling like you don’t belong, leaving your hometown to try to find kindred spirits and a more accommodating environment, a spiritual journey, and intellectual growth.
Sorry, my Twitter handle is @Anyechka.
Ooh, everyone is going all literary so I’m going to go with television. The Lost premiere was FANTASTIC. One of the best pilots/debuts ever!

There have been some awesome debuts lately…I think my favorite would have to be Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo. It’s been my top read of 2012, and I’ve read some fantastic books this year. Perfect book is perfect.
Congrats on the blog launch!

My first comment must have been eaten, but that’s okay because I thought of another debut I wanted to pimp–I mean, recommend. OF POSEIDON by Anna Banks! Mermaids! Hot boys! Danger! Sharks! Yes, please!
What a great idea for a blog! Totally awesome. I’m gonna be different and name the first book I queried…which is also the first in a series I’m writing, “Summer of Hope”.

*Waving at Dahlia* My favorite debut, which I just finished last week, is Stephanie Perkins’ ANNA AND THE FRENCH KISS. And yes, I realize that I’m way behind the times, LOL, but I finally got around to reading it.
I think you know how to get in touch with me on Twitter, but if not, @NoelleHenryYA
Congrats on the YA Misfit blog! Can’t wait to see what awesomeness and crazy hijinks ensues.
Divergent – loved it…can’t wait for book three. Congrats on the new blog launch! Very exciting!
My favorite series debut was Interview With the Vampire by Anne Rice. And true love lasts a lifetime.
You know where to find me I think!
I’ve heard such great things about Cracked Up To Be. There’s so many books I love, I couldn’t pick a favorite debut, but I am seriously anxious for the return of The Vampire Diaries. It’s a show I’ve loved from the very first episode!
Cracked Up to Be is on my TBR list.
But one of the debuts I really liked was Mindi Scott’s Freefall. And now she has a 2nd coming out soon, which I’m looking forward to also.
Ack, email is mrae74@comcast.net Sorry, just hit send on an important email and my brain is mush! Congrats on the awesome new site too!
Divergent by Veronica Roth! There are so many others, but I recently finished her first two so they are fresh on my mind! Also recently red Pretty Amy by Lisa Burstein and enjoyed it!
Favorite book debut: The Lies of Locke Lamora by Scott Lynch. Con men and fantastic river cities. Like The Sting crossed with Game of Thrones.
And because I’m an idiot, I forgot to add my congratulations on the blog launch!
(And to leave my email: callmebecks at gmail dot com)
Loved Cinder by Marissa Meyer. Great world building and story line!
Oh yes. One of my favorite debuts is Blood Magic by Tessa Gratton. Love her words.
